OUR STORY

Boreham Wood & Elstree Community Radio (BECR) is an organisation created with the intention to build and run a new, digital, local community radio station serving the Boreham Wood & Elstree community.

It is currently in Stage 2 of the development plan.

STAGE TWO

MEETINGS

We have regular meetings of the project steering group and have appointed a Project Manager.

PODCAST CATEGORIES

A number of podcasts have already been recorded and many more are planned.  These will be uploaded to the website as soon as it is ready. These podcasts have been specifically suited to the local community, to give a real understanding of life in Elstree & Boreham Wood.

PUBLIC
MEETING

We have held a very successful meeting - open to the Public - on the evening of Thursday 7th March at Allum Manor.  At the meeting we explained what we are trying to do. Some interested people came forward  and may become  volunteers in the future. We will hold similar events in the future

SSDAB

We have applied to be a “founder member” of a new Digital Radio company, applying  for a SSDAB (Small Scale DAB) license in this area of Hertfordshire.  If the digital application

is successful we will need to start to get ready to produce radio programmes as well as podcasts.

WEBSITE

We are redeveloping the website in readiness to facilitate the broadcast and management of podcasts if the digital application is successful.

STUDIO

We have set up a recording studio in the  Elstree Studios complex in Shenley Road.Over the coming months. we will install additional digital recording equipment. In the meantime we are busy scheduling and recording more podcasts.

What is BECR?

The BECR Project is developing a community-based radio station,

based in Borehamwood & Elstree and broadcasting over the internet. It will be operated by a non-profit independent registered charity. Experienced volunteers will help train local residents who wish to take part.
